Xanadu DJL Shiraz 2016 - Australian Red Wine
Grape Variety: Shiraz - Dark berry fruits and fragrant floral notes spiced with hints of peppercorn, redskins and subtle toasty oak influences. A full-bodied wine, offering ample depth with plenty of ripe forest fruits; blackberries, redcurrants, and spice. The moreish, jubey fruit and approachable tannins combine to produce a generous wine with a supple structure and a wonderful persistence of flavor.

One of Western Australia's most established wineries, producing quality wines through traditional winemaking techniques, XanaduWines is 'unmistakably Margaret River'. John and Eithne Lagan arrived at Margaret River in 1968, first planting their vineyard in 1977. They named their vineyard Xanadu after the poem Kubla Khan by the romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge and recently won the James Halliday’s Wine of the Year for 2015. It also won the coveted Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show, presented on Thursday night (October 18). The award, which recognises the best young red, went to the 2016 Xanadu Cabernet Sauvignon, which also won the trophy for Best Cabernet, Merlot, and Associated Varieties.
